Kravann and Bayon

Kravann Here you see some pictures from the presentation of the reconstruction project. To the right, this is the Kravann Temple, reconstructed in the shape as it is today. The data were given to the students by Japanes researchers in Cambodia. The students already started with this work at the RUFA, but finally combined it into a complete model with textures and photorealistic rendering during their stay at IWR.

Bayon The second outcome of the projects phase was the Bayon Temple in the Angkor area. The reconstruction here is due to the scans from plans in the Museum in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap made in April 2005 by students from Heidelberg. These hand drawn plans of French scientists date back to the middle of the 20th century and show an ideal shape of the temple. Therefore the students decided to Presentation make the reconstruction as ideal as possible according to the various plans they got.

The final feedback the students gave us will be very helpful for future projects and for continuing collaboration. We are very glad to be able to offer four scholarships in 2006, the
IWR Innovation Award in Scientific Computing for the Cultural Heritage
Details to this will be released in the near future.

Farewell Party

Before the party The two month went by very quickly - it is already time to say "Good bye". For us, it was a pleasure to have you here. We will miss you guests from Cambodia!

Party talks Party drinks

Finally all the Cambodian and Heidelberg members of the Angkor project gathered for the first X-mas party we had this year. "Glühwein, Spekulatius, Lebkuchen und Christstollen" is quite what the season offers for partying. Have a nice trip back to a warmer place of this globe. And see you again either here in Heidelberg or in Cambodia!
